Some of the synonyms for this beautiful plant include the following: Lupinus polyphyllus, lupin, Alaskan lupine, bluebonnet, and Texas bluebonnet. Lupin gets its name from the Latin word "lupinus," which means "wolf," as the roots of the plant were thought to be harmful like the bite of a wolf. As per the folklore, bluebonnets were believed to bring good luck, and some people even use them for medicinal purposes.
