The Peoples Mujahidin of Iran (PMOI) is also commonly known as the Mujahidin-e Khalq or MEK. The organization was founded in Iran in 1965 but later moved its headquarters to Paris. The Iranian government has designated the PMOI as a terrorist organization, but the group has gained support from many Western countries such as the US and Europe. The organization's aim is to overthrow the current Iranian regime and establish a democratic and secular government in Iran. Other synonyms for the PMOI include the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and the Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO).
