Anterior Spinal Artery Syndrome is a rare condition that occurs when the blood supply to the spinal cord is disrupted. This disorder is also known as spinal cord infarction. Some other synonyms for anterior spinal artery syndrome include spinal cord ischemia, anterior spinal cord injury, and spinal cord stroke. The symptoms of this syndrome are usually sudden and severe, including muscle weakness, pain, and loss of sensation in the affected area. Although this condition is often associated with aging and other medical conditions, it can occur at any age and in otherwise healthy individuals. Treatment options include medications to manage pain and physical therapy to improve muscle function.
