A washing line is a convenient outdoor structure we use to hang wet clothes. Some other synonyms for the term washing line include "clothesline", which is a term typically used in North America, "drying line", "clothesline pole" or "washing line pole". Some regions also use the term "airer" or "clothes airer" to refer to a device for drying clothes. In addition, some households prefer to use a "drying rack" which is typically used indoors and requires no support to stand. The effective use of a washing line allows clothes to dry naturally under the sun without the need for energy consumption of a dryer, decreasing the household's carbon footprint.
