Living donor is a term used to describe a person who donates an organ or tissue to another person while both are alive. The opposite of a living donor would be a deceased donor, who donates their organs or tissues after death. Another antonym would be a recipient or receiver, who receives the donated organ or tissue from a living or deceased donor. While the term living donor is often associated with kidney transplants, where one kidney is donated, living donors can also donate a portion of their liver, lung, or intestine. Deceased donors, on the other hand, can donate multiple organs and tissues, including the heart, lungs, pancreas, and corneas.
